Sun Protection11th International Sun Protection Conference
The UVA Challenge

8-9 June 2011 @ The Royal College of Physicians, London

This highly successful series of biennial conferences takes place for the 11th time in June 2011.

UVA was once referred to as 'the forgotten wavelengths', regarded by some as relatively insignificant compared to other wavelengths in the spectrum, such as UVB.

Later, it became the centre of attention: the 1995 edition of this series of Sun Protection conferences focused on UVA, calling it 'the single most controversial issue in sun protection this decade'; in 2001, the conference was entitled 'UVA protection: A major issue of minor importance?'

In 2011, the conference will again draw attention to the effects of UVA on the skin, looking at the occurrence of melanoma and other damage, asking how much protection we should have, and whether the minimum level of UVA protection outlined in EU guidelines is adequate.

Presentations from internationally renowned speakers will examine the important UVA issue. The conference will discuss the effects of UVA on the skine, methods of measuring UVA protection, means of protecting the skin from UVA, influence of markets, incporporating the varyign regulations and legislation from around the world.

The conference will highlight the challenges that UVA brings and provide solutions to optimise UVA protection..
