People Development Summit - Delegate Feedback

“The event ran like a machine, which is nothing but credit to the hard working Summit team. The strategy workshops were informative, varied and valuable for understanding how L&D is developing itself throughout different industries and organisations. The meetings were perfect in terms of timing - meeting new suppliers that I wouldn't of ordinarily engaged with. Ultimately, I leave having gained new friends, industry peers and insight, into how tech and practice are continuing to evolve in supporting performance improvement and people development.”

Mel Gloyn: L&D Transformation Lead, Virgin Media

“The opportunity to meet a large number of suppliers, which enables you to understand what they do, to identify alignment opportunities and to have the time, space and opportunity to discuss your challenges, which becomes very cathartic.”

Lynda Steer: Assistant Director People & Organisational Development, Radian Group

“A fantastic opportunity to meet with suppliers and other L&D professionals to lots of exciting insight and stimulus in a short space of time.”

Lisa Blewitt: Head of Group Academies, Centrica

“The event as always is well organised, full of personalitieswho are personable, approachable and ready to do business. The meetings are matched perfectly and I find that every event has been overseen with great professionalism and perfection. The key note speaker was standout and the evening events were very social.”

Zaifin Nithiyananthan: Learning & Development Manager, Safestore

“Great like minded people who are there to support solutions to your Business needs”

Joe Parry: Head of Learning & Development, HSS Hire Service Group Plc

“A well organised, well managed and friendly event. Great to get such a group together in an upbeat and inspiring atmosphere and location. Very useful to connect with such a breadth of the supplier base at a single event and location.”

Simon Wergan: Head of People Development, Careys Group

“A great opportunity to learn from others in the Learning and Development field, to explore new innovations and resources to support learning.”

Linda Cooper: Head of Learning and Organisational Development, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

“Extremely well organised. Good choice of presentations and excellent choice of suppliers to engage with. Good friendly vibe at all times and useful to be able to talk to suppliers without a hard sell approach. Liked the format of the Summit and for my first one I was impressed with everything. It was clear we were in the hands of professionals in the organisation of this Summit which went like clockwork."

Christine Nichols: Head of Learning and Organisational Development, Norse Commercial Services

“I found the event useful, perhaps more than I had anticipated. It helped me to have a good sense of what is out there in the market place and develop some relationships. Suppliers seemed to understand that it was more about relationship building than a hard sell. It was very structured but at the same time quite informal and comfortable. The organisation was excellent.”

Philippa Burt: Head of People Development, EDF Energy

“I have learnt more and made more mutually beneficial connection in the last 3 days than I have in 10 years in the L&D/ HR world. I have found an apprenticeship training provider and an organisation that can support us with our culture change piece too which is great! The Summit was hard work, a lot of talking, but the event was organised so well that the hard work was also fun!”

Lynda Grayson: Knowledge and Training Business Partner, Spurgeons

“A great way to network, meet new suppliers, discuss ideas and explore new opportunities without the hard sell".

Martin Walder: Head of Learning and Development, SSP Group

“Probably the most useful time I'll spend this year! Great to get away and spend time focusing on the areas of L&D which are important to you/your organisation. The informal approach taken by both delegates and suppliers really encourages exploration of ideas, tools and approaches.”

Iain Brown: Group Talent and Development Manager, SWS-Strategic Workforce Solutions Group Ltd

“The format of the Summits that is based on the valuable experience of the organisers make it beneficial to all attendees; delegates and suppliers. In less than 2 working days, we meet with distinguished service providers and HR colleagues. We exchange experience and we acquire new knowledge through the strategy group sessions. We can easily select the adequate training providers that can help implement our training plans effectively. The spirit of the Summit is always pleasant and the organization is very professional and accurate.”

Emad Ayoub: HR Director, Lecico

"I’d highly recommend the Summit to fellow L&D professionals. It’s a great way to take your business challenges and priorities into a safe environment to explore ways to tackle them not just through supplier conversations but also through networking with others.”

Richard Flood: Group Learning & Development Business Partner, TalkTalk

People Development Summit - Case Studies

People Development Summit – to go or not to go?

Like many of my L&D industry colleagues, I often get invited to networking events sometimes in very grand venues, locations, or with a hot topic speaker or experience which usually piques my interest; sometimes I go and sometimes I don’t depending on what’s in my diary or what’s on at work...Read more

Great return on investment each year

Having attended many networking events and conferences over the years, I arrived at Summit fully expecting the same sort of behaviour, where delegates don’t turn up and they’re only interested in what goodies you have bought them...Read more

These guys deliver!

In a marketplace where you could attend a ‘Strategic HR Event’ or a ‘Meet the Supplier Event’ or a ‘Topical Networking Event’ every day of the week it is hard to know which organisations you can trust, which provide a great experience and which deliver on their promises...Read more

Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to sell or procure People Development services

Up until I received a contact request I have to confess that I knew nothing of Summit Events or what they did. What I picked up straight away though was how persistent, yet professional and polite the team were. The positioning was to the point with a strong win/win scenario painted and so what possible reason could I have to not attend? None to be honest, so much so that a colleague also joined me for the second event and must say it is a decision I have never regretted...Read more

You can’t afford not to attend as it’s such a massive time saver!

I have worked in learning and development for over 15 years now and, as you can imagine, have been invited to and attended more events than I care to remember! However, from the start, there was that certain something that was a little bit different about the initial contact from Summit Events. They were friendly, professional, approachable and most definitely organised...Read more

I was concerned about the ‘hard sell’ but nothing could have been further from the truth!

I have been fortunate enough to attend two People Development Summits – the first in Brussels in 2013 and the second in Amsterdam in 2014. I have found the whole experience to be extremely positive and I have subsequently gone on to engage more formally with one or two of the suppliers I met whilst at the event; suppliers I probably would never have met had it not been for the Summit! ...Read more

Slick organisation and proven methodology

Amsterdam in the spring time and another Summit event. Our 8th event since Budapest in 2008. Since then we have been to Barcelona, Madrid, Brussels and now Amsterdam. The Summit experience is quite special. You feel part of the event as opposed to just a supplier or a delegate. We have been to other events and they lack the integrity and style of Summit. We only went to one other event and quickly realised why we liked Summit so much ...Read more

Getting to the top together

Many years ago I climbed a mountain called Toubkal for charity. I took on this adventure after some persuasion from the organiser and leader of the gang, a friend and then colleague of mine called David Schofield. He explained that completing such an adventure is not only rewarding as an individual but also as one of a team who are all focussed on one thing, getting to the top together. Turned out that the experience and rewards were far greater than he could have described ...Read more

Cut to the heart of matter by only meeting senior personnel

...totally worth the three days out!

I had never attended a Summit before and was really unsure of what to expect. I thought that it would be very 'salesy' with suppliers pushing their services on to you. I can honestly say that the experience was NOTHING like this. I had the best 3 days possible ...Read more
